In 2024, Muhammad Muslim Tameeza Trust ( MUMTA TRUST ) took a transformative step to preserve a hidden treasure trove of India's heritage: its Islamic legacy. This effort led to the formation of the Indo Islamic Heritage (IIH) initiative, a digital archive dedicated to showcasing the vast contributions of Indian Muslims to the country's rich cultural tapestry. Spearheaded by a team of visionaries-including trustee Aslam Abdullah, Asma Habib, Akram Abdullah, Tayyaba Siddiqi Taqiuddin Ather, Anwer Abdullah, Ahsan Abdullah, Saleem Abdullah, Sayyeda Hussaini, Masood Akhtar and Saud Arham and all the Grandchildren of Muhammad Muslim and Tameeza Begum.

This Project invites people from every corner of India to become part of a groundbreaking mission: to share and celebrate the stories of Islamic sites, some stretching back to 622 AD, when the first mosque in Gujarat was built. Imagine uncovering India's forgotten gems: centuries-old mosques, tranquil shrines, historic schools, ancient cemeteries, and educational institutions built by Muslim communities across India. The platform not only aims to preserve these stories but also enriches the experience by providing information on nearby accommodations and halal dining options, creating an immersive resource for travelers and locals alike. And as new discoveries come to light, the platform is ever-expanding, ensuring these sites are never lost to time.

The Indo Islamic Heritage Project

MUMTA TRUST launched the Indo Islamic Heritage Project in 2024 to digitally archive the legacy of India's Muslim-built heritage. This living, breathing project continuously evolves, capturing new information as it becomes available and safeguarding the historical contributions of Muslim Indians in a format that is easy to access for generations to come. By creating this archive, we're not just preserving history; we're sharing it with the world.

Our Goal: A People-Powered Preservation Project

This project is by the people, for the people. In every town, every village, and every bustling city, there are relics of India's Islamic past-from elegant mosques to bustling bazaars, from towering monuments to serene shrines, from schools to hospitals. With this project, we aim to digitally safeguard every such building, every landmark, and every memory associated with India's Muslim heritage.

And here's where you come in! We invite you to submit information on any sites you know, including:

• Name
• Type (mosque, shrine, monument, hotel, restaurant, etc.)
• Year of construction
• Location (address, district, and state)
• Brief description (current state, management, and purpose)
• Current photos (up to 10) and a short video tour

We're dreamers with a mission: to compile every trace of India's Islamic heritage into one easily accessible resource. Yes, it's ambitious, and yes, it's a challenge, but with a clear roadmap, we know it's possible. From academic research to local legends, from government records to oral histories passed down through generations-every source counts. We want to knit together these various threads into one grand tapestry, honoring India's Islamic heritage.

Our project covers five main categories:
• Mosques: Encompasses both ancient and active places of worship.
• Shrines: Tombs, dargahs, graveyards, mausoleums, and more.
• Monuments:: Forts, gardens, historical landmarks that echo the Muslim presence.
• Eateries: Nearby halal-friendly restaurants and accommodations for visitors.
• Other: Schools, inns, or any significant structure built by the Muslim community.
