The H.E.H. Nizam's Museum, situated in Hyderabad's historic Purani Haveli, is a treasure trove of the rich history and legacy of the Nizams, the erstwhile rulers of the Hyderabad State. The Nizam?s Museum, situated in the historic Purani Haveli (Masarrat Mahal), is a testament to the grandeur of Hyderabad's royal heritage. Established in February 2000 by the H.E.H. The Nizam?s Jubilee Pavilion Trust?a non-profit organization formed in 1957?the museum preserves and showcases the opulent legacy of the Asaf Jahi dynasty. The Jubilee Pavilion Hall, originally constructed by Mir Osman Ali Khan, the seventh and last Nizam of Hyderabad, was designed to house the lavish gifts and mementos he received during the celebration of his silver jubilee in 1936, marking 25 years of his rule. As the collection grew, the Nizam founded the Jubilee Pavilion Trust to ensure its proper upkeep and display. The museum's exhibits include remarkable artifacts such as a golden throne crafted for the silver jubilee celebrations, a three-tier gold tiffin box inlaid with diamonds and rubies, an ornate writing box adorned with mother-of-pearl embellishments, and a miniature silver replica of the Jubilee Hall, all reflecting the unparalleled wealth and sophistication of the royal family. One of the museum's highlights is the 176-foot-long Burma teak walk-in wardrobe of Nawab Mir Mahbub Ali Khan, the sixth Nizam. This unique feature includes a recreation of the Nizam?s wardrobe based on photographs, as he famously never repeated an outfit and donated his clothes after wearing them once.
