Architectural Features: Structure: The mosque comprises a square prayer chamber measuring approximately 10.36 meters on each side, accompanied by a verandah. The entire structure forms a rectangle of about 21.95 meters in length and 15.54 meters in width. The prayer chamber is accessible through three arched openings on each side, except the qibla side, which houses three semi-circular mihrab niches. Design Elements: The mosque is renowned for its intricate enamelled brickwork, featuring vibrant colored stones embedded in its walls. This decorative aspect has led to its alternative name, the "Painted Mosque." The central mihrab projects outward and is flanked by fluted columns, while the cornices and battlements exhibit graceful curves. The prayer chamber is crowned with a single dome, and the verandah is roofed with three small vaults, showcasing a blend of architectural styles. According to local lore, the mosque was named after a dancer named Lotan, in whose honor Sultan Yusuf Shah commissioned its construction. The mosque's vibrant brickwork and architectural elegance reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Bengal Sultanate era.
