The shrine is a vital stop for the annual Bibi ki Sawari, a procession on the 10th day of Moharram that symbolizes the grief of Bibi Fatima, the Prophet?s daughter, over the martyrdom of her son, Hazrat Hussain, in Karbala. A unique tradition associated with the Ashoorkhana is the preparation and distribution of sharbat (a milk-based beverage) to devotees from two large stone reservoirs at the entrance.
