Masjid Raheem Khan, built in 1643, is a Qutb Shahi mosque located in Karwan, Hyderabad. Known as Nirkhi Masjid, it was frequented by the Nirkhis, price inspectors. The mosque features three arched openings leading to the prayer hall, flanked by two minarets. The Throne Verse (Ayat al-Kursi) is inscribed in the mihrab in Thulth style. The mosque is a notable example of Late Qutb Shahi architecture, distinguished by its polished black basalt in the arches, minaret, and entrance.
Masjid Raheem Khan, constructed in 1643 during the Qutb Shahi period, is located near the Toli Masjid and Kulsumpura Masjid in Karwan, Hyderabad. It is a significant historical structure, also known as Nirkhi Masjid, due to its association with the Nirkhis, the price inspectors who were regular worshippers. Situated on a small terrace, the mosque is built in the Late Qutb Shahi architectural style, characterized by three prominent arched openings leading into the prayer hall, which measures 27 by 18 feet. The hall is flanked by two tall minarets. The mosque is noted for its architectural richness, with a profusion of polished black basalt used in the arches, minaret, entrance gate, and mihrab. One of the unique features of the mosque is the inscription of the Throne Verse (Ayat al-Kursi) in Thulth script in the mihrab, adding a spiritual and artistic element to the structure. In front of the mosque lies a well, and on a raised platform, there are nine unmarked graves, further adding to its historical significance. This mosque is not only a religious site but also a testament to the craftsmanship and architectural ingenuity of the Qutb Shahi dynasty.
