This historic mosque, also known as the Shahi Masjid of the area, is a significant religious structure with a rich cultural and architectural heritage. It continues to function as a living mosque, where regular prayers in congregation (Jamaat) are held, maintaining its role for religious purposes. The mosque's architectural style belongs to the Lodi period, known for its distinct design elements and robust construction. The mosque stands on a high platform, offering a commanding view of the surrounding area. It is accessed from the eastern side through a grand entrance gateway, with a flight of steps leading to the mosque's main level. The plinth, which supports the entire structure, is constructed with sandstone ashlar masonry. This masonry is decorated with blind arched niches set into rectangular panels, which originally would have spanned openings for basement access. The eastern facade of the mosque features five arched openings, adding to the grandeur of the entrance. On the western side, the Quibla wall displays three mihrab recesses, each framed by niches composed of stepped ogee arches. The central bay is accentuated by squinches that support the transition from the square ground plan to an octagonal drum, although the roof is not domed but vaulted. Inside the premises, there is an inscription panel on the south side of the prayer hall, which, although now much altered and renovated, provides insight into the mosque's historical significance. The interior is well-maintained, while the exterior has undergone partial restoration. The mosque is characterized by thick walls ornamented with kanguras (battlement-like adornments) along the top, enhancing its defensive aesthetic. Tapering turrets can be seen at the corners of each end, and two small circular medallions are placed on either side of the spandrels, adding a touch of elegance to the structure. The large forecourt of the mosque was designed to accommodate the devotees, providing ample space for communal prayer and gatherings. In terms of construction materials, the mosque utilizes rubble masonry and Lakhori brick, along with plastered surfaces. Over time, modern building materials have been incorporated for maintenance and renovation purposes, but the traditional materials and architectural design remain at the core of the structure, preserving its historical value.
