Brief History Bibi Hambal is believed to have been the wet nurse of the revered saint Qutb Sahib, which is why she is respectfully referred to as "Daiji." Within the enclosure, there are two graves: one belongs to Bibi Hambal, while the other is said to be either the grave of the saint's mother or his wife. This site holds significant spiritual and historical importance, reflecting its deep connection to the legacy of Qutb Sahib. Local/Traditional Description Associated with the Site This Ibadat Khana (prayer house) is uniquely dedicated to women. Men are not permitted to pray inside the enclosure, making it an exclusive spiritual space for women. Architectural Style The structure reflects the Mamluk architectural style, characterized by its simplicity, symmetry, and the use of decorative elements that highlight the craftsmanship of the era. Description of the Building/Structure/Site The tomb chamber is a small but elegant structure containing two cenotaphs, one of which belongs to Bibi Hambal, while the other is attributed to the saint's mother or wife. The chamber measures approximately 5.27 meters by 4.69 meters. Access to the tomb is through an entrance gate, and the enclosure is beautifully adorned with intricate latticework. The dado is clad in marble, enhancing the aesthetic appeal, while the rest of the structure is constructed using modern materials. The parapet is decorated with battlement designs, adding to the visual charm of the tomb. Building Materials The enclosure is constructed using rubble and brick masonry, with sections of marble cladding providing a refined and polished look. These materials not only contribute to the durability of the structure but also reflect a blend of traditional and modern construction techniques.
