The mosque, built by Nawab Rukn-Ud-Daula, the Prime Minister of Mughal Emperor Akbar Shah II in the early 19th century, is a magnificent example of Mughal architecture. Rectangular in plan, it features exquisite carved floral patterns on the central arch, showcasing the finesse of Mughal craftsmanship. The mosque is a two-storeyed structure, with the basement floor consisting of multiple compartments now utilized as shops. The upper floor comprises a courtyard and a prayer chamber with three compartments, accessible via a flight of fourteen steps. The western Qibla wall features three mihrab recesses, adding to its religious significance. The mosque has three arched entrances, with the central arch divided into three beautifully carved cusped openings supported by pillars. The facade is dominated by the central arch, adorned with intricate stone carvings, flanked by towering minarets. A marble inscription is embedded above the central arch, further enhancing its historical importance. The interiors are adorned with delicate floral designs on the walls and the mihrab, reflecting the aesthetic brilliance of the era. The addition of five wooden doors at the entrance of the prayer chamber appears to be a recent modification. Elements such as screen jali details and guldasta patterns amplify the monument's aesthetic appeal. The mosque was constructed using Lakhori bricks, sandstone, and locally sourced stones, contributing to its durability and architectural grandeur. Despite its age, the structure remains intact, preserving the elegance and grandeur of its original design.
