The mosque, an impressive structure with a grand dalan, is believed to have been erected by the followers of Makhdum Samauddin, a saint who passed away during the reign of Sikandar Lodi in 1496 A.D. The mosque is an active place of worship, where regular prayers are held along with other important religious ceremonies. Architecturally, the mosque is built in the medieval style, characterized by its massive rectangular layout. Raised approximately 3 meters above the ground, the building consists of a central court surrounded by a parapeted wall and a three-arched dalan (a covered porch or hall) on the northern side. The court spans roughly 33.55 square meters. The western wall features a series of eleven mihrab recesses, with the central mihrab being accentuated by two minarets. The arched dalan, measuring approximately 15.25 meters by 4.84 meters, is thought to have been used as an assembly hall. It includes staircases at both the eastern and western ends, leading to the roof. At the western end of the dalan, a chamber measuring around 4.81 meters by 4.30 meters is present, with a staircase descending to lower rooms at ground level. The structure is adorned with bands of miniature niche-shaped panels that run beneath the chhajja (overhanging eaves), supported by molded stone lintels resting on intricately carved stone brackets, which run down the piers of the main central arch. The original construction of the mosque was done using random rubble masonry, a traditional building material of the medieval period. However, modern interventions, such as the application of cement plaster, have been observed in recent restorations. This mosque stands as a testament to medieval architecture and continues to be a place of cultural and religious significance.
