This structure is likely a part of the south wall of Jahanpanah, a historical fortification that begins at Hauz Rani village and extends through the village of Khirki, continuing up to a ridge near Tughlaqabad. The Jahanpanah fortification was proposed by Muhammad Tughlaq to enclose the suburbs of Delhi, which were situated between the forts of Rai Pithora and Siri. The purpose of this fortification was to protect the inhabitants of these areas from the attacks of Mewati robbers. However, the construction of the wall was never fully completed, and only parts of it were finished, resulting in the region being partially enclosed. The area that was enclosed became known as Jahanpanah. The remnants of the enclosure wall found at this site are scattered and constructed using rubble masonry, which was a common building material during the Tughlaq period. The structure's historical significance lies in its association with the Tughlaq dynasty, and it is considered an important part of the fortification system of Delhi during that time. Despite the lack of traditional or local information about the site, its architectural style is unmistakably Tughlaq, reflecting the characteristics of that era's military and defensive structures.
