The shrine is dedicated to Hazrat Syed Shah Ruknuddin Makhdoom Shahbaz Husaini (Rahmatullahi Alaih). It is widely recognized as a spiritual center where devotees visit to offer prayers (du'a), perform ziyarat (pilgrimage), and seek blessings. The peaceful and spiritual atmosphere of the shrine, along with the annual Urs held on 23rd Muharram, attracts thousands of devotees from across the region. The shrine, situated in Naipura, Iltifatganj, Tanda Tehsil, Ambedkar Nagar district, is an important historical and Islamic Sufi site. It houses the blessed mausoleum (Mazar Mubarak) of Hazrat Syed Shah Ruknuddin Makhdoom Shahbaz Husaini (Rahmatullahi Alaih), a distinguished Sufi saint of the Chishti Order. He was a Khalifa (spiritual successor) of Hazrat Makhdoom Ashraf Jahangir Simnani (Rahmatullahi Alaih) and played a significant role in spreading peace, devotion, love, spiritual reform, and the message of human brotherhood throughout medieval North India. According to traditional accounts, Hazrat Makhdoom Ashraf Jahangir Simnani (Rahmatullahi Alaih) bestowed upon him the title "Shahbaz" after pouring Zamzam water, brought from the Holy Kaaba, into the sacred Neer Sharif at Kichhauchha Dargah. It was this blessed event that earned him the honorific title Shahbaz. The shrine symbolizes the deep influence of the Sufi tradition in the region, where saints like Hazrat Shahbaz Husaini (Rahmatullahi Alaih) spread the teachings of religious harmony, spirituality, compassion, and humanity. Even today, it remains a major center for ziyarat and spiritual devotion. The architecture of the shrine reflects the traditional style of Sufi dargahs in Uttar Pradesh. At its center lies the simple yet beautifully adorned mausoleum, decorated with elegant Islamic motifs. Devotees visit the shrine to recite Fatiha, offer prayers, attend Qawwali gatherings, and participate in various religious ceremonies. Every year, the Urs of Hazrat Shahbaz Husaini (Rahmatullahi Alaih) is celebrated with great reverence and devotion. Thousands of pilgrims and disciples gather from distant places to participate in the three-day annual Urs, observed on 22nd, 23rd, and 24th Muharram. The celebrations include Qur'an recitation (Qur'an Khwani), Fatiha, Gagar ceremony, Chadar Poshi, Gul Poshi (offering of flowers), Langar (community feast), and Qawwali, preserving the rich heritage of the Chishti Sufi tradition. The shrine is maintained by the Khanwada-e-Shahbaziya, its Sajjada Nashins (hereditary spiritual custodians), Khadims (caretakers), and the local community, ensuring the preservation of its sanctity and historical significance. The Dargah is located approximately 20–25 kilometers from Akbarpur, the district headquarters of Ambedkar Nagar, and about 15 kilometers from Tanda. It is easily accessible through local roads and National Highway NH-233. Situated in a peaceful rural setting, the shrine holds special importance among the historical and religious landmarks of the Ayodhya (formerly Faizabad) Division. According to historical traditions, Hazrat Shah Ruknuddin Makhdoom Shahbaz Husaini (Rahmatullahi Alaih) is believed to have originated from the Simnan region of Iran, reflecting the broader history of the arrival and spread of Chishti Sufi saints in India. Although the exact date of construction remains uncertain, the shrine is generally believed to have been built between 1375 and 1380 CE, following the saint's passing in the late 14th century, during a period when Sufi khanqahs and dargahs flourished across Awadh and neighboring regions. The shrine is primarily known as a place of ziyarat, worship, and spiritual reflection. According to available historical evidence, it is not a congregational (Jama) mosque, but a sacred Sufi shrine where people come for personal prayers, supplication, and inner peace. Today, the Dargah Sharif of Hazrat Makhdoom Syed Shah Ruknuddin Shahbaz Husaini (Rahmatullahi Alaih) stands as an enduring symbol of Uttar Pradesh's rich Sufi heritage, continuing to spread the timeless message of love, tolerance, spirituality, peace, and humanity. Every year, the saint's Urs is celebrated with great devotion and grandeur by the members of his Khanwada (spiritual family) and countless devotees during 22nd, 23rd, and 24th Muharram.
