Hazrat Inayat Khan, an Indian musician, was instructed by his Sufi teacher, Sayyed Muhammad Abu Hashim Madani, to bring harmony between the East and West through his music. Initiated into the four main Sufi lineages, he primarily followed the Chishti Order. In 1910, he traveled to Europe and the United States, spreading Sufi teachings in a universal form.
