Hazrat Shah Kalimullah Jahanabadi Chishti (RA) was a prominent Sufi saint of the Chishti order during the late Mughal period. Born in 1650 in Delhi, he was the grandson of Ustad Ahmad Lahori, the architect of the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort. His father, Noor Ullah, was a renowned astronomer and calligrapher. Throughout his life, Shah Kalimullah Jahanabadi dedicated himself to spiritual teachings and the revival of the Chishti order. He established a madrasa in Shahjahanabad (now Old Delhi), which attracted numerous students from various regions, offering them free board and lodging. Emperor Aurangzeb later commissioned the construction of a khanqah (a Sufi lodge) for him. His dargah (shrine) is situated between the Red Fort and Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, near the Meena Bazaar. The shrine has been a site of annual Urs celebrations, commemorating his death anniversary, which were historically attended by Mughal emperors, including Bahadur Shah Zafar, and other members of the royal family. Shah Kalimullah Jahanabadi is remembered for his inclusive approach towards people of different faiths and his significant contributions to Sufi literature. Among his notable works are "Tilka ʿAsharat Kāmilah," "Kashkūl Kalīmī," "Maktūbāt-i Kalīmī," and "Muraqqā Kalīmī."
