Constructed around 1566-67, these structures exemplify the architectural grandeur of the Mughal period. Location and Significance Situated in the southeastern corner of the Humayun's Tomb complex, the Afsarwala Tomb and Mosque are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The term "Afsarwala" is believed to derive from "Afsar," a Persian tribal name, indicating that the tomb may belong to a person of the Afsar tribe. Architecture Mosque: Built between 1560 and 1567, the mosque is constructed on a raised platform and features a fa?ade with three arches, each enclosing an alcove. The interior is adorned with stucco decorations, and the dome rests on an octagonal drum. Tomb: The mausoleum is built on the same raised platform as the mosque. It is constructed from grey quartz, lined with red sandstone and marble. The structure is octagonal in shape, with each side containing an arch leading to the inner chamber. The double dome rises from an octagonal drum and is crowned by a red sandstone lotus finial.
