Masjid Aala Wardi Khan, more widely identified in contemporary directories as Sarai Allawardi Masjid, stands in the historic village of Sarai Allwardi, now surrounded by the urban development of New Palam Vihar and Sector 110 in Gurugram. Its location is given as F2X9+P7M, Chauma Road, Sarai Allwardi, New Palam Vihar Phase 1, Sector 110, Gurugram, Haryana – 122017. The mosque forms part of the historical landscape of Sarai Allawardi. A historical account published by The Times of India describes the mosque as a centuries-old structure and notes that its construction is associated with the period of Ala-ud-Din Khalji, while also acknowledging uncertainty concerning the precise construction date. Another historical account identifies the mosque and adjoining sarai with Nawab Ali Vardi Khan and the 18th century. Because these accounts differ substantially, the precise origin and date of construction should be treated as historically disputed rather than stated as an established fact. What is firmly documented is its archaeological significance. Government environmental-clearance documentation identifies Sarai Allawardi Masjid as an ASI monument, while reporting from 2015 also described it as a protected monument declared by the Archaeological Survey of India. The mosque continues to function as a place of worship. Current mosque listings identify facilities including a men’s prayer hall and wudu area. Historical reporting has also described substantial Friday congregations, reflecting the mosque’s continuing religious importance to the surrounding community.
