It remained an important stronghold through the Mauryan and Gupta periods and was later restored and strengthened under the Chudasama rulers, particularly during the reign of Graharipu in the 10th century. The fort has witnessed numerous sieges and contains important historical structures, including the 15th-century Jama Masjid, Buddhist caves, Adi Kadi Vav and Navghan Kuvo. It is now a major heritage attraction of Junagadh and is maintained as a protected historical site.
