This mosque was built in 1676 as a grand structure within the historic walled city of Shahjahanabad. It was one of the largest mosques of its time, comparable to Jama Masjid and Fatehpuri Masjid. Architectural Style Indo-Persian Description of the Building/Structure/Site The mosque is a double-storied building constructed on a rectangular ground plan. It features grand arcaded facades and towering minarets. A large open courtyard is located on the northern side, while a ruined two-bay-deep verandah stands on the southern side. The original structure has been altered with enamel paint, and a layer of terrazzo has been added up to the dado level. The mosque comprises three bays, each accessible through cusped arches.
