The mosque of Shah Wajid was constructed during the Mughal period. Local/Traditional Significance Local Muslims gather here to offer religious and congregational prayers. Architectural Style Indo-Persian (Hind-Persian) Description of the Building/Structure The mosque follows a rectangular layout. The parapet wall features an engraved battlement kangura pattern. It has two octagonal minarets, each crowned with a chhatri (canopy). There are three domes on either side, each sitting on a circular drum. The main dome is topped with an inverted lotus design. A newly constructed roof has been added over the mosque. Inside, to the left of the entrance, there is a slightly raised platform with little depth, historically used for ceremonial ablutions (wazu). The mosque features windows with grill railings. There are three arches, with the Mihrab positioned at the center. The central arch is slightly larger than the others. Four alcoves are projected onto the side walls, supporting the circular domes. Significant changes have been made to both the interior and exterior of the structure. The original jali (lattice) windows have been replaced with modern grill windows. The walls have been renovated and covered with cement and paint, and the floors have been tiled, completely altering the monument's historical appearance. The doors and kangura patterns are now painted green, which remains the only distinguishing feature linking the mosque to its historical roots. The mosque consists of five bays, accessed through low arched entrances. Each bay is separated from the next by arched openings. Additionally, an outer extension has been added, covered with asbestos sheet roofing. Construction Materials Walls: Made of Lakhori bricks and cement. Floor: Constructed with brick masonry and cement. Roof: Domed roof built with bricks.
