This is the only structure of its kind in the village. It was constructed by a grain merchant in the heart of the village during the late Mughal period. Local / Traditional Description Associated with the Built Heritage / Site According to the locals, the chhatri is the pride and heritage of the village. During any auspicious occasion, villagers gather here to offer prayers. Architectural Style Indo-Persian Description of the Building / Structure / Site The magnificent domed chhatri was built during the later phase of the Mughal period as a memorial. The chhatri stands on a raised chabutra platform, which is now enclosed by an iron-grill fence. The structure has an octagonal plan with four main faces, each featuring multi-cusped arched openings surrounded by rectangular bands of decorative moldings. The octagonal chhajja (projected eave) is supported by carved stone brackets. The canopy is roofed with a bulbous dome that resembles a ribbed dome. The base of the dome is decorated with floral patterns, and it rests on an unembellished octagonal drum. A finial crowns the dome. At the center of the canopy, a sandstone slab with engraved footprints is placed. The interior of the roof is adorned with impressive hand-painted mythological scenes. The domed chhatri is considered the pride and heritage of Mitraon Village. Building / Structure Material and Other Components The structure is built using modern materials such as bricks, cement, and marble. Sandstone is used in the cornice and brackets, while iron is used for the railings.
