The embankment was originally used to dam the artificial lake created as a moat to form a protective barrier on the south of Tughlakabad. Historically, it was constructed for military purposes during the Tughlaq period. Architectural Style Indo-Persian Description of Building / Structure / Site The structure has three pointed arch openings. On the top face, there are two staircases that lead to the adjacent gate. The structure resembles an aquaduct with arched openings at the base. Structure Material and Other Material The building walls are constructed of random rubble masonry and lime mortar. It features a vaulted stone roof.
