The site in question is located in Mehrauli, one of the oldest continuously inhabited areas in Delhi. Its historical significance dates back to the 11th century with the establishment of Lal Kot by Anangpal Tomar, marking the beginning of urban settlement in this region. The existing structure is believed to have been used as a stable during the late Mughal period. Architecturally, the structure is designed in the Indo-Persian style, reflecting a blend of Indian and Persian influences. It is constructed using random rubble masonry and is laid out on a rectangular plan. The building features a series of pointed arch openings that create a rhythmic pattern, allowing access and light into the central open area. These arches are supported by robust rectangular pillars and pilasters, which provide structural stability and aesthetic depth. The structure is topped with a flat roof, which was typical in many utilitarian Mughal-era buildings. Despite its simplicity, the design reflects thoughtful architectural planning suitable for its practical use as a stable.
