The Katra Neel area was planned and designed during the construction of Shahjahanabad in the 17th century. The site features a grand double-storeyed residential building located within a courtyard. Though partially renovated, many original architectural elements have been preserved. The structure displays the Indo-Persian architectural style, with a prominent cornice supported by brackets and jharokhas (overhanging enclosed balconies) projecting above the facade. The impressive entrance gateway is approached via a stone staircase and leads to the courtyard. This pointed arch gateway is adorned with intricate decorative elements that remain largely in their original form. Above the pointed arch is a cusped arch supported by a combination of rectangular and fluted pilasters, richly embellished with delicate carvings. The spandrels of the cusped arch are decorated with a continuous tendril pattern. The gateway’s facade features pointed and multi-cusped arched niches. On either side of the gateway are square platforms, locally known as Otla, also adorned with fine carvings. The facade of the structure is constructed from buff sandstone, and the door is made of wood reinforced with iron bolts.
