Mirza Najaf Khan, the commander-in-chief of the imperial army under Shah Alam II, founded the town of Najafgarh. He constructed a strong fort in the area, and the mosque in question was built during the same period as the fort. Although no specific local or traditional narratives are associated with this heritage site, the mosque reflects the Indo-Islamic architectural style. The structure has been completely renovated in modern times. The upper floor features a series of pointed arched windows, all fitted with lattice screens of the same design. The parapet is decorated with traditional kangooras (battlement-like features). Unfortunately, the area surrounding the mosque has been encroached upon. The current structure is built using modern construction materials, including bricks and cement.
