The site is part of the Chhatta collection of houses once owned by Bhawani Shankar, who is historically known for betraying the Marathas—hence the name "Namak Haram" (traitor). There are many intriguing local stories associated with this haveli, particularly about the mischief and actions of Bhawani Shankar. Architecturally, the structure reflects an Indo-Persian style. The building features a pointed arched gateway with wooden doors. This gateway is adorned with a multi-foliated arch design, along with intricate floral and geometric patterns. After the entrance, there is a small bay followed by an open space, and then another bay that also features pointed arched openings on both sides. The structure is now used as a road and is closed off with iron beams and stone or wooden slabs. The building material primarily includes Lakhauri bricks with lime mortar plastering. Sandstone is used for the brackets and lintels, while the roof is supported by iron beams and wooden planks.
