This gateway was constructed during the time of the Great Uprising of 1857 as a passage leading to Katra Neel. The city itself was completed in 1648 and served as the capital of the Mughal Empire until its fall in 1857, when British rule was established in India. Once lined with grand mansions, the area reflected the architectural splendor of its time. The gateway, built in the late 18th century, served as an entrance to a building and represents a structural style that was common during the Later Mughal period. Architecturally, the structure belongs to the British period. It features a grand design with two bay arch openings and a large pointed arch. Above the spandrel of the arch is a screened parapet, adding to its decorative appeal. The facade is constructed using red sandstone, while the walls are made of lakhori bricks and finished with a cement plaster.
