The Lahori Gate of Old Delhi, built during the Mughal rule, once served as a prominent entrance to the city. It led eastward along Chandni Chowk to the Lahore Gate of the Red Fort. Today, it is largely reduced to a bazaar square with only a few remnants of its original structure remaining. Inside the gate lies the grain market, a bustling hub of activity. Just outside the gate stands a mosque built by Sirhindi Begum, the wife of Emperor Shah Jahan, whom he married after the death of Arjumand Banu Begum, better known as Mumtaz Mahal. Historically significant, the Lahori Gate was also one of the last points captured by British forces during the Siege of Delhi in 1857.
