Surrounded by semi-urban homes and local markets, the masjid hosts all five daily prayers, along with Jum’ah and Ramadan programs. Named in honor of Hazrat Abdul Muttalib, the grandfather of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the mosque embodies tradition, humility, and reverence. Its welcoming prayer space, active youth involvement, and peaceful surroundings make it more than a religious site—it is a unifying place where faith flourishes amid everyday life in northern Bihar.
In the evolving neighborhood of Hazrat Ali Colony, nestled within Jaiprakash Nagar near Paigamber Pur Kolhua, lies Masjid-E-Hazrat Abdul Muttalib—a mosque that quietly yet significantly enriches the daily lives of its surrounding community in Sadatpur, Bihar. Located at the edge of urban expansion, this masjid bridges the spiritual needs of both long-time residents and new families moving into the area. Built in the mid-2010s, the mosque was named in honor of Hazrat Abdul Muttalib, the noble grandfather of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, known for his leadership and strong sense of faith. The mosque upholds these values—offering not just a place of prayer, but a space of dignity, compassion, and religious growth. The mosque’s structure blends modern simplicity with traditional cues. A modest central dome, arched windows, and a small minaret make up its clean and graceful silhouette. Painted in white and pastel green, it has become a recognizable landmark in the colony. Its entrance opens to a tiled veranda, where worshippers often gather before or after Salah. The main prayer hall can comfortably accommodate around 80–100 people. During Jum’ah, the crowd often overflows into the corridor and veranda. The mihrab, beautifully curved and subtly ornamented, faces the qibla, and the minbar—a raised wooden platform—is used for Friday sermons and Eid khutbahs. Natural light and fans keep the hall bright and breezy. A well-maintained wudhu area with tiled flooring, clean water supply, and covered seating ensures ease of ablution. Shoes are arranged in a small sheltered rack near the entrance, and volunteer caretakers ensure cleanliness, especially before congregational prayers. The imam, a soft-spoken and well-respected figure trained locally, leads the five daily prayers and offers regular guidance on everyday Islamic practice. His Friday sermons touch on topics like community responsibility, honesty in trade, youth behavior, and the virtues of charity. The mosque committee, composed of residents and elders, actively manages operations, minor upgrades, and charity drives. Ramadan is particularly special at this masjid. With taraweeh prayers, daily iftar, and occasional Qur’an dars, the mosque comes alive with devotion. Youth from the area assist in arrangements, creating a space that is intergenerational and cooperative. Beyond ritual worship, the mosque is gradually emerging as a center for community-building. Plans are underway to introduce evening classes for children, covering Qur’an reading, basic fiqh, and Urdu literacy. A few workshops on health awareness and moral development have already taken place with local participation. Masjid-E-Hazrat Abdul Muttalib stands not in grandeur, but in meaning. It reminds its community daily that faith is not measured in size, but in sincerity, service, and silent strength. For the people of Kolhua and Sadatpur, it is a spiritual anchor in an ever-changing world.
