Built in the mid-2000s, Masjid-e-Umar was founded by local residents who recognized the need for a prayer space within the expanding colony. Children’s Qur’an recitations, du'a gatherings, and occasional spiritual talks by invited scholars add to the richness of the holy month. Though not a formal madrasa, the mosque frequently organizes evening Qur’an and Hadith classes for children and teenagers. These sessions are led by the imam or knowledgeable volunteers and have been instrumental in building foundational Islamic understanding among the youth in the area. During emergencies, such as floods or winter cold spells, the mosque committee collects donations, blankets, and essentials for distribution.
