Another significant mosque in Cuttack is the Diwan Bazaar Masjid, which is believed to have historical ties with the Shahi Masjids of Odisha. It is thought to have been built during the reign of Emperor Aurangzeb (1658–1669). Unlike typical mosque constructions, this mosque was not built on a rectangular slab from the base level of the columns. The structure features three domes, with the central dome being larger than the two side domes. It also includes four minor towers. Inside the mosque, two additional structures are present. Notable architectural elements include six capitals and three ‘hajras’ positioned on opposite sides. The mosque also features an arched roof and intricately carved top supports, giving the appearance of a hemispherical dome. The mini walls and ornate design make this structure a captivating example of Mughal-inspired architecture.
