The Mohammadia Bazaar Mosque, located near the Darpani House in Cuttack, was constructed in 1125 Hijri (1713–14 A.D.) by an individual named Mohammed Ali. Though his official designation remains unspecified, it is believed that he might have been Alivardi Khan Mohabat Jung, who, according to historian Ghulam Husain Khan, migrated to Odisha with his father after the death of Azam Khan in 1707 A.D. Alivardi Khan, aiming to please his superior Shujauddin Khan—the then Subahdar of Odisha and a noted patron of mosque architecture—possibly commissioned this mosque. Architecturally, the mosque features three domes, with a large central dome flanked by two smaller ones. Its front façade is decorated with varying sizes of Mehrabs, although it lacks minarets. With three arches and a simple entrance leading inside, the mosque stands out for its unadorned and humble design, reflecting a graceful simplicity that defines its unique charm.
