Hazrat Maulana Habibur Rahman, commonly known as Huzoor Mujahid‑e‑Millat, was born on 8 Muharram 1322 H (26 March 1904) in Bhadrak, Odisha, to Maulana Abdul Mannan and Hikmatun Nisha. He pursued Quranic and Farsi studies locally before attending Madressa Subhania in Allahabad, followed by advanced Hadith education at institutions in Ajmer Sharif and Jamiya Naimiya in Moradabad, under noted scholars such as Allama Naimuddin Muradabadi . After completing his studies, he served selflessly as headmaster of Madrasa Subhania and was granted spiritual leadership (Khilafat) across four major Sufi orders: Qadriya, Naqshbandiya, Chishtiya, and Hashmiya . Noted for his humility—traveling by bicycle, aiding the poor, and adopting a son as his spiritual successor—he was also recognized for miraculous deeds recounted by disciples . Upon his passing on 6 Jumada al‑Ula 1401 H (13 March 1981) in Mumbai, his shrine was established in Dhamanagar (Angeipal), Bhadrak district, Odisha—approximately 125 km from Bhubaneswar . The Dargah, spanning around 11 acres, includes a striking gold‑plated mosque and is commonly referred to as Khanqah Habib . Since the early 1980s, his annual Urs—held each year on 5–6 Jumada al‑Ula—has drawn hundreds of thousands of devotees from across India, including major urban centres like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. The festival is renowned for its peaceful spirit and unique interfaith traditions, such as Hindu devotees preparing ‘sirini bhog’ as an offering . Today, the shrine enjoys a 4.6‑star Google rating for its clean, serene environment, spacious grounds, and ease of access for pilgrims
