Often referred to as the “Badi Masjid” due to its spacious layout and long-standing presence, it draws worshippers for daily Salah, Friday Jumu’ah, and Ramadan taraweeh. The masjid is known for its warm sense of community, regular Qur’an classes, and thoughtful Friday sermons. Nestled near Dr. Sultan’s residence, this masjid serves as a spiritual and cultural hub for the neighborhood, preserving both faith and harmony among generations of local families.
Among the quiet lanes of Tekwadih, in the heart of Ahmad Colony, stands the well-known Moglakhar Badi Masjid—a mosque whose name itself signifies its standing: “Badi” meaning grand or large, not just in size but in community reverence. Positioned along Masjid Road, near the home of the respected Dr. Sultan, the mosque is not just a place of prayer but a reflection of the faith and cohesion of the surrounding locality. The masjid dates back to the early 1990s, constructed when Tekwadih began developing as a growing residential pocket in Nawada district. The name “Moglakhar” hints at the local roots of the community that helped establish the mosque through donation drives, volunteer labor, and collective effort. What began as a small gathering space expanded steadily over the years, eventually becoming the primary masjid for nearby areas like Ahmad Colony and Sultan Nagar. From the outside, Moglakhar Badi Masjid displays a clean, classic structure with whitewashed walls, a tall central dome, and a single minaret visible from across the colony. A large arched gateway opens into a broad courtyard, often used during Eid prayers or Friday overflow. Inside, the main prayer hall accommodates approximately 250–300 worshippers, with proper ventilation, clean tiled flooring, and a well-maintained mihrab and minbar that reflect a touch of traditional craftsmanship. The masjid holds five daily congregational prayers, with a particularly vibrant turnout on Fridays, when the khutbah addresses both spiritual reminders and real-life guidance on topics like youth, family responsibilities, and unity. During Ramadan, the mosque becomes especially active, with iftar distributions, taraweeh prayers, and Qur’an khatm gatherings that stretch into the early hours of the night. A small maktab (elementary Islamic school) operates within the masjid complex, where children learn Qur’an recitation, dua memorization, and basic Islamic studies under the guidance of the imam and a volunteer ustad. The environment is simple but full of barakah—many of the current youth credit the masjid as their first place of structured learning and moral grounding. The masjid also plays a crucial role during life events. Nikah ceremonies, janazah announcements, and community meetings are often initiated or coordinated from here. A modest notice board displays updates, and a small charity box is placed near the entrance, contributing to the upkeep of lights, fans, carpets, and water supply. Despite not being featured on online platforms or travel directories, Moglakhar Badi Masjid is etched into the local identity of Tekwadih.
