The Dargah of Kazisahab Baba (Hazrat Kazi Rafiuddin Shah R.A.) located in Kazisahi, Munsipatna, Baniasahi, Dhamanagar, Odisha, is a revered spiritual site with deep historical roots. Believed to have arrived in the 17th century from Central Asia—possibly Samarqand—Kazi Rafiuddin Shah settled in the forested region during the reign of Maharaja Ramachandra Dev II of Khurda. Known for his spiritual wisdom and miracles, local legends say he struck the ground with a rod, causing a spring to flow, which still exists in the shrine courtyard. His presence drew the attention of the local king, who granted him land and supported the establishment of an ashram, which eventually became the dargah. The site has since stood as a symbol of interfaith harmony, with both Hindus and Muslims maintaining traditions such as floral offerings and daily prayers. A marble shrine was constructed in 1893 by a grateful merchant, with design contributions from local Hindu and Muslim artisans. It was later renovated in 1925, adding domes and a mosque-like structure. The dargah hosts large gatherings during Urs and Ramzan, drawing devotees from across the region who come to seek blessings, offer prayers, and participate in communal meals. Today, it remains a living monument of Odisha’s spiritual syncretism and cultural unity.
