Dargah Hazrat Kasim Masoom Baba, located in Sankarpur, Puruna Bazar, Bhadrak, Odisha 756100, is a revered Sufi shrine that stands as a testament to the region’s rich spiritual tapestry. Named after the saint Kasim Masoom—or sometimes referred to as Sayed Nasim Akhtar Quadri—it belongs to the Qadri Sufi order, which traces its spiritual lineage to the renowned Abdul Qadri Gilani of Baghdad . The origin of the dargah dates to the mid‑20th century when the saint and his brother arrived during challenging times of the 1960s to spread a message of healing and compassion. Their reputation for performing miracles—especially healing ailments—grew rapidly, drawing pilgrims from across Odisha and beyond. Hazrat Sayed Wasim Akhtar (the younger brother) passed away in Delhi on April 5, 2013, and was buried here on April 7, followed by the elder brother’s funeral the next year. Their mausoleums now grace the site beneath a striking new marble structure built soon after . The shrine complex—also referred to as Gulshan-e-Ghouspak or Khanqah-e-Habibiah—features a mosque, expansive courtyards, and a beautifully adorned dargah built by local devotees. The current edifice, celebrated for its grandeur and architecture, includes shops that sell offerings, chadar cloths, and prasad for pilgrims . Pilgrims of all faiths visit regularly: Thursdays are particularly auspicious, and during the annual Urs commemorations and monthly Fateha, thousands gather seeking blessings. Rituals such as placing chadar, reciting Fatiha, offering roti in local “Sandal” festivals, charitable langars (community meals), and distribution of chiri (a sweet rice dish) foster the interfaith harmony typical of Odisha’s Ganga–Jamuni culture . Today, the shrine stands not only as a site of spiritual healing, but also as a vibrant symbol of communal unity. It continues
