At the convergence of tradition, commerce, and community, near the well-known Uma Cinema on Pirmohani Road, stands Daftar Nurani Masjid—a humble yet dignified house of worship that has long anchored the spiritual rhythm of life in central Patna. The word Daftar reflects its origin as a place associated with both spiritual and administrative purpose—perhaps once linked with a madrasa office or religious committee—and Nurani captures the essence of divine light and guidance that the masjid brings to its neighborhood. Though small in scale, Daftar Nurani Masjid holds a significant emotional and spiritual space for the people of Pirmohani, Lodipur, and the adjacent old city areas. Constructed likely in the mid-to-late 20th century, this masjid arose at a time when Patna’s population and commercial activity were intensifying in this belt. The masjid committee consists of elders from the neighborhood, who manage routine affairs, repairs, and festival arrangements with the support of the local community. Funds are raised internally for needs like fan replacements, water tank upkeep, and cleaning supplies. The atmosphere is deeply local—no online promotion, no loudspeakers for show—just faith, community, and continuity.
