Masjide Bilaal and Madarsa Miftahul Uloom, located in the village of Basatpur in Dumra block of Sitamarhi district, Bihar, are two interconnected institutions that play a vital role in shaping the spiritual and educational landscape of the local Muslim community. Rooted in traditional Sunni Islamic practices, the masjid and madarsa together serve as centers for worship, learning, and community development. Masjide Bilaal is named after Hazrat Bilal ibn Rabah (RA), one of the closest companions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the first muezzin (caller to prayer) in Islam. The mosque offers a serene and structured space for the five daily congregational prayers, Friday (Jumu’ah) sermons, Taraweeh during Ramadan, and Eid gatherings. The prayer hall is clean and well-maintained, adorned with simple Islamic motifs and Arabic inscriptions. A dedicated area for wudu (ablution) ensures ease and hygiene for worshippers. The mosque also holds special sessions for Islamic learning, particularly during Ramadan and Rabi' al-Awwal. The imam plays a central role in not only leading prayers but also guiding the community in matters of ethics, family issues, and moral development. The mosque management committee is active and includes youth volunteers who help organize events, manage crowds during prayer, and oversee maintenance tasks. Adjacent to the mosque is Madarsa Miftahul Uloom, meaning "The Key to Knowledge." This madarsa provides free religious education to children and adolescents, including Qur'an memorization (Hifz), Tajweed, Arabic, Urdu, and basic Islamic studies such as Fiqh, Hadith, and Seerah. It serves both as a day school and a part-time learning center, especially for students who also attend regular government schools. The madarsa is known for its disciplined environment, ethical teachings, and inclusive approach. Teachers focus on character development alongside religious instruction, aiming to produce responsible and morally grounded individuals. Special focus is given to orphans and children from economically weaker sections, ensuring equitable access to education. During Ramadan, the campus becomes a hub of spiritual energy.
