Jama Masjid, Abdullapur, Meerut

Jama Masjid, Abdullapur, Meerut

Jama Masjid of Abdullapur is a historic mosque located in the heart of the village. It has significant roots in the early Islamic period of North India and continues to be a place of worship for the locals.

Nestled amid old residences and narrow lanes of Abdullapur—often called Abdullapur Sadaat—this mosque stands as a centuries-old spiritual landmark. The village itself is recognized for its founding by the Naqvi family in the 16th century, and its legacy includes multiple religious sites such as Kot Fort and Imambaras. Jama Masjid is believed to date back to the early Sultanate era—possibly established under Qutubuddin Aibak and completed by his successor, in line with other early Islamic constructions in North India. It’s thought to be among the oldest mosques in the region. Over time, the mosque became woven into village life—hosting daily prayers, Jumu’ah gatherings, and playing a central role during events like the 9th of Muharram, known widely in Abdullapur. Though not grand in design, its grounded presence speaks of faith across generations. The structure retains its basic form—stone and plaster, echoing its humble heritage—while remaining active and cared for.
