Masjid Sidhi Ghat, more commonly known as Dhai Seedhi Ki Masjid, is regarded as the oldest mosque of Bhopal, situated near Gauhar Mahal on VIP Road in the Peer Gate area. Built during the rule of Sardar Dost Mohammad Khan in the early 18th century, it was originally constructed for the guards of Fatehgarh Fort so they could offer prayers without leaving their posts. The mosque derives its name from the unique entrance of “two and a half steps” that lead into its prayer space. Architecturally simple and extremely compact, it can accommodate only three to four people at a time, which has also given it the reputation of being one of the smallest mosques in Asia. Despite its modest size, the mosque holds immense cultural and historical importance as it represents the earliest phase of Bhopal’s Islamic architecture and stands as a symbol of the city’s origin under Dost Mohammad Khan’s rule.
