Kamli Shah's tomb is a historically and architecturally significant structure, believed to have been constructed during the Tughlaq period. Kamli Shah was a young woman who embraced the life of a mendicant, and her legacy is commemorated through this tomb. The structure was later enhanced under the reign of Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar II, who constructed the adjacent mosque. Among the locals, the tomb is popularly referred to as Kala Mahal, adding a layer of cultural significance to its historical narrative. Architecturally, the tomb exemplifies the Indo-Persian style, blending elements of Indian and Persian craftsmanship. The tomb is raised on a square platform, symbolizing strength and stability. Its walls are adorned with multiple arches, enhancing both its structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. The roof is crowned by a prominent bulbous dome, which rests gracefully on an octagonal base. Although weathered by time, remnants of lime plaster are still visible on the dome, offering a glimpse into its original grandeur. The construction of the tomb involved a combination of materials characteristic of the Tughlaq period. The primary materials include stone random rubble masonry, bricks, lime mortar, and lime plaster. These materials were skillfully integrated to create a structure that has withstood the test of time, reflecting the ingenuity of its builders. This remarkable site not only holds historical significance but also stands as a testament to the architectural brilliance of the period.
