Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Haq Muhaddis Dehlavi (1551?1642 CE) was a distinguished Islamic scholar and prolific writer in Arabic and Persian. He was an esteemed figure in the royal courts of Mughal emperors Jehangir (1605?1628 CE) and Shah Jahan (1628?1658 CE) and authored over 100 works. His final resting place, an impressive sepulchre, is believed to have been built by himself and reflects the Indo-Persian architectural style. The tomb is square in plan, topped by a bulbous dome set on an ornate octagonal base and crowned by an inverted lotus and finial. The fa?ade features semi-circular niches and intricate jaalis, while the chajja is supported by stone brackets. Inside, the dargah houses the tomb of Sheikh Abdul Haq, with walls adorned with pointed arches, niches, pendentives, and squinches. The tomb is enclosed by a marble-lattice screen, a later addition. The structure originally utilized stone and lime mortar, finished with lime plaster. Over time, it has been renovated using cement, marble, and paint. The dargah is a sacred site visited by devotees and visitors throughout the year, with a significant influx during the annual Urs celebration, honoring the saint?s legacy.
