The mosque, situated southwest of Dastur Khan's Mosque near Jamalpur Gate, holds historical and architectural significance. Built by Haibat Khan, also known as Masti Khan, a nobleman and the paternal uncle of Sultan Ahmed Shah I, it showcases an early attempt to blend Islamic and Hindu architectural elements. Constructed predominantly using materials repurposed from Hindu and Jain temples, the mosque reflects the complex cultural and religious dynamics of its era. While it lacks significant external beauty, its historical importance lies in its innovative architectural fusion. The mosque's front fa?ade is simple and unadorned, featuring three small pointed arches. The minarets, modest and devoid of intricate ornamentation, emerge from the roof. The central clerestory, small and unlit, rises only slightly above the side domes, giving the structure a restrained appearance. Inside, the mosque's centerpiece is a central dome adorned with intricate carvings that originally belonged to a temple mandapa, serving as a striking reminder of its reclaimed heritage. The interior is further enriched by a variety of pillars sourced from different Hindu temples, each showcasing unique and elaborate ornamentation. These architectural features not only highlight the craftsmanship of the period but also reflect the cultural intermingling and repurposing of resources during the construction of Islamic monuments in medieval India. As one of the earliest examples of this architectural synthesis, the mosque stands as a significant, albeit understated, monument in the region?s history.
