Founded in 1820 CE (corresponding to 1235 Hijri) by the esteemed Sufi scholar and spiritual leader Hazrat Shah Ainul Haq Maulana Abdul Majeed Qadri Budauni, the khanqah was established to disseminate the teachings of spiritual purification and devotion rooted in the Qadri silsila (chain of transmission). Shah Ainul Haq, a devoted disciple of Shams-e-Marehra Hazrat Abul Fazl Aale Ahmad Achhey Mian Marehrwi, received ijazat (authorization) and khilafat (spiritual succession), enabling him to lay the foundation of this center from which Qadri and Barkaati blessings began radiating across regions. The khanqah's origins trace back to the Usmania family lineage, initiated by Hazrat Danial Qatari, the first member of this Qadri family to settle in Budaun. This familial tradition has preserved an unbroken chain of knowledge and spirituality, fostering generations of Awliya Allah (saints and friends of God) who have guided seekers toward the path of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). As a khanqah, it functions primarily as a residential lodge for Sufi practitioners, emphasizing zikr (remembrance of God), sama (spiritual gatherings), and moral instruction, rather than serving as a conventional mosque for congregational prayers—though it integrates elements of Islamic worship within its spiritual framework.
