Badaun, known for its rich Islamic heritage dating back to the Delhi Sultanate era, hosts several ancient Sufi sites, and this shrine exemplifies the enduring Qadri Sufi order's influence in the region. The shrine is centered around the mausoleum of Hazrat Abdul Hameed Mohammad Salimul Qadri (RA), affectionately called Salim Miya Qadri, who served as the Qazi (Islamic judge) of Badaun district and was a leading figure in the Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat tradition. Hazrat Salim Miya Qadri (born circa 1956) was a scholar and spiritual leader from the Usmani Qadri family, which has maintained the Khanqah Qadriah in Badaun for generations. This khanqah, or spiritual lodge, is renowned for its unbroken chain of transmission (silsila) linked to the founder of the Qadiriyya order, Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA). The family's spiritual lineage began with Hazrat Danial Qatari, the first Usmani Qadri to settle in Badaun, and continued through figures like Hazrat Shah Ainul Haq Maulana Abdul Majeed Qadri Budauni, who received ijazah (spiritual authorization) from Shams-e-Marehra Hazrat Abul Fazl Aale Ahmad. Under Salim Miya's leadership as Sajjada Nashin (spiritual successor), the khanqah became a hub for teaching Islamic sciences, Sufi ethics, and community welfare, guiding devotees toward devotion to Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The shrine itself functions as a local mosque where daily prayers (salah) are observed, alongside special gatherings for dhikr (remembrance of God) and milad (celebrations of the Prophet's life). Its architecture reflects traditional Indo-Islamic simplicity, with a central dargah (mausoleum) adorned with Islamic calligraphy and a prayer hall for congregational worship. Devotees visit for ziyarat (pilgrimage) to seek blessings, particularly during the month of Ramadan and the saint's urs (annual commemoration of passing), which draws thousands despite its local scale.
