Hazrat Shah Badar Diwan Qadri Baghdadi (RA) was born in Baghdad on 7th November 1457 AD and was a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through both the Hassani and Hussaini lineages. Leaving his homeland in 1493 AD, he dedicated his life to spreading Islam, first in Lahore and later in Batala, where he established the village of Masanian. The name "Masanian" is derived from the Hindi word for ?one who removes evil spirits.? He married Bibi Murassa, the daughter of Hazrat Daud Bokhari, in Sohal village, Gurdaspur, and had a family of four sons and one daughter. Hazrat Shah Badar Diwan passed away on 12th August 1570 AD, and his grandson Shah Abdul Shakoor Gilani Qadiri constructed the majestic dargah in his honor.
