The Sakhi Zain-ud-Din Wali (RA) Cave and Shrine in Aishmuqam is one of the most prominent and spiritually revered Sufi sites in Kashmir, rooted deeply in the 15th century Rishi tradition. Dedicated to Hazrat Zain-ud-Din Wali (RA), a distinguished saint and one of the chief disciples of Sheikh Nund Rishi (RA), the shrine stands atop a hill overlooking the scenic landscapes of Aishmuqam. The original site is believed to be the cave where the saint meditated, preached, and spent years in spiritual seclusion. Over time, as devotees recognized his profound piety, the cave naturally evolved into a sacred pilgrimage destination. After the saint’s passing, his mausoleum became a center of devotion, gradually expanding into the shrine known today. For more than 500 years, this dargah has been a symbol of faith, attracting thousands of pilgrims annually, especially during the Urs and the renowned Zool festival when the shrine’s gates—usually closed—are opened to the public. Rich in history, spiritual legacy, and cultural significance, the Aishmuqam Shrine stands as a testament to Kashmir’s syncretic Sufi heritage, drawing people of different communities who come seeking blessings, healing, and peace.
