Salfia Muslim Institute was established in 1994 in the Sherbagh (Sheer Pora) neighbourhood of Anantnag with the aim to provide quality English-medium education from pre-primary through Grade 10. Managed privately (unaided), the school was founded to meet growing demand for modern schooling among local families. Operating in a rented building, the institute consists of 14 well-maintained classrooms for instruction, two additional rooms for non-teaching activities, and a dedicated headmaster/teacher’s room. Over time it has become an important educational institution in the area, offering not only regular academic classes but also a library with around 1,500 books, a playground for students, and computer facilities — six functioning computers — supporting the learning environment. Its co-educational setup and attached pre-primary section make it accessible to a broad cross-section of the community. The school’s infrastructure includes a pucca boundary wall, electric connection, tap-water supply, and separate functional toilets for boys and girls.
