Jamia Qadim Masjid, Sopore is one of the oldest and largest mosques in the Sopore region. According to local historical references, the mosque is believed to have been constructed by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in the later part of the 17th century. Since its establishment, it has remained a major centre for religious congregations, including Friday (Jumma), Eid, and Shab prayers, serving a large Muslim population. Over time, the mosque has undergone significant modifications. Architecturally, it is a T-shaped structure measuring approximately 54 meters by 22 meters, built in the vernacular Kashmiri style. The mosque features a large prayer hall divided into three longitudinal bays, a double-height central bay with clerestory lighting, and a hipped roof crowned with three decorative brangh spires, reflecting a blend of traditional Kashmiri and later construction techniques.
