Mohammad Akbar House is a mid-20th-century residential building located in Kanqah Mohalla, Sopore, representing the traditional vernacular Kashmiri (Kṣatriya) architectural style. The house was originally constructed by Ghulam Mohammad Kar, a local businessman, during the mid-1900s. At present, the property is owned by Mohammad Akbar, a retired school teacher. Sopore, historically known as Suyya-pur, was founded in 880 AD by Suyya, the chief engineer of King Avantivarman, and developed as an important riverfront settlement on the right bank of the River Jhelum. Architecturally, the building consists of three floors with an off-centric entrance. The ground floor contains four rooms, the first floor also has four rooms, while the second floor comprises a single hall arranged beneath the roof truss. A portion of the lower left side of the building has been demolished to accommodate toilet construction. The structure displays decorative arched windows on the first floor, with carved wooden frames and panels, reflecting local craftsmanship.
