Champa Ki Masjid remains an important part of Ahmedabad's architectural and cultural heritage.
Champa Ki Masjid, situated near Shahpur Chakla in Ahmedabad, is a small yet historically significant mosque. Located approximately 80 yards south of its preceding landmark, it stands on the western side of Shahpur Chakla. The mosque, modest in design, is constructed of brick and features a tilted roof. Its simplicity is further reflected in its architecture, with three plain mihrabs adorning the back wall. In official survey maps, this mosque is referred to as the Shahpur Masjid. However, its local name, Champa Ki Masjid, is derived from an old Champa tree that once graced its courtyard, lending the mosque its distinctive identity. According to local tradition and historical accounts, the mosque is believed to have been first erected around A.H. 920 (A.D. 1515). It was established under the patronage of Makdum Jamal-ud-Din Jamman Shah, a revered figure whose tomb is located in Navrangpura.
