Kanch Ki Masjid is a lesser-known yet architecturally intriguing mosque located in Tajpur, Panch Pipli, Jamalpur, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Kanchi ki Masjid, a historical stone mosque, holds an aura of mystery as its original name has been lost to time. The mosque is remarkable for its architectural features, including a storied structure supported by timber beams. Once, its roof was adorned with glazed tiles in a bluish hue, a characteristic that led to its present name, "Kanchi ki Masjid." The facade features two sturdy stone pillars, and the walls are meticulously constructed with stone. Within the mosque, there are three mihrabs, each serving as a focal point for prayer, and a mimbar consisting of five steps. The interior reflects a sense of simplicity and elegance, with whitewashed walls accented by subtle colors. Historically, the walls bore numerous inscriptions featuring the Kalma written six times, though these inscribed slabs have since been removed, adding an element of loss to its heritage. The mosque?s courtyard includes a porch on the northern side, enhancing its grandeur. This area is enclosed by balcony-style windows, which provide both ventilation and an aesthetic charm to the space. Together, these features encapsulate the mosque's historical and architectural significance, making it a noteworthy monument of cultural heritage.
